Volunteer Information:

Wellwood is a volunteer-run organization with many roles to choose from. Below is a brief description of each area, to help you decide which one might be best suited to your skills, interests and schedule. Once you've had a chance to review the descriptions, please check the areas that interest you.

VOLUNTEER LOCATION: Juravinski Hospital Site & Chedoke Community Based Site
*Please note that virtual roles (concierge, program support) require access to a computer and phone.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS WITH WELLWOOD: Please check 3 areas that interest you or match your skills. Note that our volunteer program is fluid and we may not be actively looking for something you have chosen. It is simply a guideline for discussion:

These are problem-solving and decision-making roles that will give you an understanding of the big- picture workings of the organization.
These roles are not front-line and the meetings usually take place on a monthly basis; often, but not always, in the evening.
*Board members have a separate recruitment process.

These are mostly front-line, day or evening roles that will bring you in contact (either in-person or virtually) with Wellwood clients.
Peer Mentor roles require an experience with cancer either directly or as a caregiver.
Activity program roles (yoga, art) require training or extensive experience in the specific area of interest.
*Knitting in the afghan program can be done from your own home or within a group. Other roles within this program may include distribution of completed afghans to community health centers.

Community Outreach and Special Events roles involve representing Wellwood in the community. Hours can vary (weekdays, evenings and weekends). It involves representing Wellwood with our display in the community.
